"Our name (pronounced pare-i-dough) comes from the yellow-green
gemstone which, since ancient times, was widely believed to increase
awareness. In these fast-paced times, awareness of our real needs
can easily become lost.
Our purpose is to inspire, stimulate, and share educational ideas
which promote the nuturing and development of the whole child
and the progress of humanity. We are committed to bringing you
critical and constructive commentary about education, as well
as creative ideas for the school and home that are in harmony
with the educational hilosophy of the Waldorf School Movement.
The Peridot is published two times a year by the
Rudolf Steiner Educational Association of Florida, Inc., a non-profit
organization. All articles express the ideas of the authors and
