We will be glad to share our experience in planning successful and well attended events and suggest topics, in addition to the list below, for your consideration.
Sharon Lovejoy is an award winning author and illustrator of ten books with contributions to numerous others. She is the founder and former owner of a small, but nationally recognized, herb and garden business, formerly called Heart’s Ease, with community display gardens, a lifelong gardener, and an experienced naturalist with an extensive background in natural history, herbs, garden design, ethnobotany, children's gardening, art, business, and publishing.
For over thirty years, she has worked with thousands of gardening enthusiasts, business owners, educators, administrators, horticultural therapists, parents, fellow writers and illustrators, and children throughout this country and abroad.
Lecture programs can range from thirty to ninety minutes depending on the requirements of the event. We have found that a forty-five minute slide presentation followed by a fifteen minute question and answer period works best for most live audiences. She can speak on a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to, the list below.
Her presentations can be inspirational or in an information driven format. Presentations are individually tailored to the needs and level of any specified audience with local conditions in mind. For radio and television appearances, she will be glad to provide talking points for an interview or a stepped-out outline of project(s) to demonstrate for a producer’s consideration.
After her presentation(s), Sharon is pleased to sign books purchased at the event or previously purchased with no minimum or maximum. She enjoys answering questions after her presentation or individually at the signing.
Your organization retains all net proceeds from book sales. Her books may be purchased wholesale from her publishers either on a consignment or returnable basis. Your organization can set the retail price of her books, and some groups offer special discounted prices for members or attendees. We recommend that the guests/attendees be informed that the sale proceeds benefit the sponsoring organization or fundraising project. Attendees sometime assume incorrectly that Sharon benefits from the book sales.

As a recognized expert on children's gardening, she de-compartmentalizes the educational process that severs children's ties to the earth and separates them from the consequences of their environmental actions. Her enthusiasm is infectious as she shares her arousing perspective of nature and distinctive approach toward teaching about it. Sharon focuses on promoting a "holistic" approach to stewardship practices and gardening by integrating the arts, sciences, ethnobotany, folklore, and storytelling into her teaching.
